Why Georgia football commit Jared Curtis is spoiled with offensive targets in NCS’ offense

COLUMBIA – Jared Curtis has no shortage of offensive targets this season at Nashville Christian.

The Georgia football commitment and No. 1 quarterback in the country for the Class of 2026 has five receivers with double-digit receptions this season and he just gained another one. His top receiver last season, Bryson Holt, played his first game without restrictions on Friday as he returns from a labrum injury.

Curtis found success spreading the ball around in a Nashville Christian 45-7 rout of Columbia Academy, 45-7.

Curtis was 26-of-37 passing for 373 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 77 yards and three touchdowns. Four Nashville Christian receivers had at least 50 yards, including Holt, who had four catches for 63 yards in his first full game back from injury.

“It forces you to cover the whole field. You can’t just load up and say we got to stop this guy, or we got to bracket this receiver,” Nashville Christian coach Jeff Brothers said. “Obviously Jared is going to run the ball too, so if you get too spread out, it opens up some seams in there for the quarterback run game … it’s just nice to be able to open up the entire playbook and force people to defend the whole field.”

With the win over Columbia Academy (5-3, 2-1), Nashville Christian (6-1, 3-0) takes sole possession of first place in Division II-A’s Middle Region, with Columbia Academy, DCA and Grace Christian in a three-way tie for second.

Offensive production by committee has been key for the Eagles, especially as its top receiver last season was sidelined through Week 4 of the TSSAA season.
