The Alabama Crimson Tide were back in action for the first time since the program’s disappointing loss at Vanderbilt in Week 6, hosting the South Carolina Gamecocks in SEC action Saturday afternoon.
Against the Gamecocks, Alabama would however struggle facing an unranked team once again, as the Crimson Tide were nearly upset by South Carolina due to some big plays late in the fourth quarter. The Crimson Tide held strong however, and escaped Tuscaloosa with a 27-25 victory that improved their record to 5-1 overall, as well as 2-1 in SEC play.
Now yes, this was certainly not a perfect performance by Alabama, as the Crimson Tide struggled for a majority of this contest. However, were there any bright spots in particular for the Crimson Tide?
Here are five Alabama players in particular who impressed during the win over South Carolina, which as a result is seeing their stock rise even more:
Germie Bernard, Wide Receiver

Stats vs. South Carolina: 4 receptions, 89 yards, 1 TD
Bernard had likely his greatest game in an Alabama uniform so far, as the wide receiver hauled in a total of four receptions for a season-high 89 yards and one touchdown, which extended the lead to 27-19 late in the fourth quarter. The Washington transfer continues to emerge as Alabama’s WR2, and has now eclipsed the 300-yard receiving mark for the season.
