CHARLES MCDONALD: What would it take for this Chiefs team to lose in the postseason at this point?

BRYCE ROSSLER: I’ll say this. I’ve been hedging against the Chiefs all postseason just because, outside of Mahomes, this is the worst offense they’ve had during the Mahomes era. So I’ve been punting on them this entire postseason run. I’ve just been like, eh, Mahomes has to go nuclear. But the defense is playing extremely well. I think we all understand by now that Spags has this unit playing extremely good football.

CHARLES MCDONALD: It’s kind of interesting that Spags has become this guy. Because I remember when he was the head coach of the Rams, and it was just like a total complete joke. I think he went like 11 and 40 as the head coach there. So maybe that’s just where he’s going to be. He’s going to be stuck as a defensive coordinator forever. But hey, he seems to be pretty good at it, to me. I mean, the Chiefs defense has steadily gotten better over the past three years under his tutelage.

Now they’ve reached like the mountaintop, where they’re one of the best defenses in the league. We can like peek ahead a little bit, but they do kind of seem like they have the chops to slow down, at least like the 49ers passing game. I think the 49ers will probably commit to the run a little bit harder than Baltimore did on Sunday. But this is like legit championship-caliber defense.
