Four-star class of 2025 athlete Zymear Smith announces decommitment from Alabama football

Four-star athlete Zymear Smith from the 2025 recruiting class has decommitted from Alabama football, Smith announced on Wednesday.

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound Ridgley, Maryland native had been committed to the Crimson Tide and Kalen DeBoer since March, being Alabama’s fourth commitment in its 2025 class at the time. Alabama’s 2025 class now ranks second in the nation per the 247Sports Composite and has 22 pledges following Smith’s decommitment. It picked up two commitments on Wednesday in edge rusher Justin Hill and kicker Peter Notaro.

The 247Sports Composite has Smith tabbed as the No. 8 prospect in Maryland and the No. 12 athlete in the 2025 class. Nationally, he ranks as the No. 279 prospect in the class.

Smith holds 19 total offers, including those from the likes of Georgia, Texas and Tennessee, amongst others.
