4 things to know about Ohio State QB Julian Sayin before 2024 season

Ohio State has a full quarterback room heading into the 2024 football season. And it includes a highly-anticipated freshman transfer.

Julian Sayin, who transferred from Alabama to Ohio State in January, is one of five scholarship quarterbacks on the Buckeyes’ roster along with Will Howard, Devin Brown, Lincoln Kienholz and Air Noland.

Sayin will take the field with Ohio State to begin the 2024 season at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 31 against Akron.

Here’s what to know about Sayin heading into the 2024 season:

Julian Sayin was the No. 1 quarterback in the 2024 recruiting class

Sayin was the top-rated quarterback in the 2024 class.

The five-star quarterback out of Carlsbad, California was the No. 1 quarterback per 247Sports’ composite rankings. He was the No. 6 player overall in the class.

Sayin was the Gatorade Player of the Year in California as a senior. He threw for 2,347 yards, 24 touchdowns and one interception. He added four rushing touchdowns.

Julian Sayin originally signed with Alabama

Ohio State was not Sayin’s first choice.

Sayin committed to with Alabama in November 2022. And despite adding an offer from Ohio State in January 2023, Sayin signed with and enrolled at Alabama as a part of its 2024 recruiting class.

After Alabama coach Nick Saban announced his retirement in January, and Washington coach Kalen DeBoer took over the Crimson Tide, Sayin entered the transfer portal and committed to Ohio State.

Sayin initially chose Alabama over Georgia and LSU.
