5 high school football teams for USC fans to watch in 2024

The USC football program has historically had a very good presence in recruiting, both nationally and dominating Southern California.

Recruits such as Mater Dei’s JT Daniels, Bru McCoy and Amon-Ra St Brown or Aaron Corp from Orange Lutheran in Southern California have signed with the Trojans. Across the national map, recruits such as Joe McKnight from Louisiana and Mike Williams from Florida have worn the Cardinal and Gold.

We are looking at the larger landscape to help you keep tabs on schools of interest for USC football fans in the Max Preps Preseason Top 25 for 2024.

1. Mater Dei (CA)

The Mater Dei Monarchs out of Santa Ana (Calif.) have simply been a feeder for USC over the past 30 years. The list includes Matt Leinart, Matt Barkley, JT Daniels, Bru McCoy, Amon-Ra St Brown, and the list continues.

Mater Dei is ranked No.1 in the nation again. It is loaded with talent all over the field including Chapparal quarterback Dash Beierly, a Washington commit.

They also have USC target Mark Bowman at tight end, and recent Oregon commit Kodi Greene, a four-star left tackle. Other commits: Jordon Davison (Oregon), Chris Henry Jr (Ohio State), Marcus Harris (Oklahoma), Chuck McDonald III (Alabama), and Nasir Wyatt (Oregon) accompany over 30 more players with FBS offers.

2. Bishop Gorman (NV)

The Bishop Gorman Gales finished last season undefeated on their way to the Nevada high school football Class 5A Division I state title.

They are ranked No. 2 in the nation and have a ton of talent up front with four of their five starting offensive linemen heading to Power Four schools.
