Exeter football countdown to kickoff: A look at the 2024 Eagles

With talented returning players and a strong emphasis on the fundamentals, the Exeter football team has certainly put in the work this offseason to remain a contender in Section 2 of the Lancaster-Lebanon Football League.

“To win the first game in front of us; we take everything week by week,” Eagles senor wide receiver Carter Redding said. “So whether that’s practice or games, no matter what we do, I think everything’s just on a one week basis. We make sure the goals for the week are complete and then when that’s done, we go on to next week.

“Just one step at a time.”

While it may be taking things as they come, Exeter certainly has reason to look ahead.

The Eagles return All-Berks Offensive Back of the Year Jayden Zandier, who ran for 1,358 yards and 15 touchdowns on 127 carries and had seven catches for 163 yards and three touchdowns.

Zandier was also named as the All-Berks Kick Returner of the Year after returning 13 kicks for 371 yards, including a 79-yard touchdown.

Though he may be one of the most explosive players in Exeter’s offensive arsenal, Zandier said he believes that maintaining a collective mentality where everyone shines will be vital.

“We have to keep ourselves disciplined and focus on the next play,” Zandier said. “If anyone makes a mistake, we pick each other up.”

In addition to Zandier, several other All-Berks returners help compose a strong unit on the defensive side for the Eagles.

Aidan Dauble, an All-Berks selection at linebacker had 60 total tackles (22 solo), three quarterback hurries, one sack, one interception and two fumble recoveries last year in the regular season.
