Daniel Jones throws two interceptions in Giants’ 28-10 preseason loss to Texans

The Giants had most of their starters in action this week, with starting quarterback Daniel Jones suiting up for his first game since last season’s ACL tear against the Raiders, but Big Blue dropped their game to the Texans, 28-10, on Saturday afternoon.

Jones played the entire first half and eventually settled down after a worryingly shaky start that saw him throw two interceptions, including a pick-six to Texans safety Jalen Pitre that opened the scoring.

New York was outgained by 90 yards to 18 in the first quarter but fared better in the second quarter as they left most of their starters in, while Houston turned to their backups. A Devin Singletary touchdown run tied the score before Houston’s backups went 79 yards in 12 plays against the Giants’ backups to retake the lead at 14-7.

Jones led a late field goal drive to make the halftime score 14-10 and ended up 11-for-18 for 138 yards with the two interceptions.

The remaining starters were removed at halftime and, after a scoreless third quarter, the Texans extended their lead to 28-10 on a pair of fourth-quarter touchdown runs by undrafted rookie British Brooks.

The Giants never really threatened to come back with Tommy DeVito held to just 75 passing yards in an underwhelming second half. He also lost a fumble.

After that, he made some good throws, albeit against the Texans’ reserves. It will now be a dilemma for the coaching staff to decide how much he plays, if at all, in the final preseason game against the Jets.

-Lock was criticized for not forcing the ball to stud rookie receiver Malik Nabers last week, but Jones made…
