UWF Football: Three takeaways from offensive players during Argos’ annual media day

The University of West Florida football team has some question marks entering the 2024 season, at least on the offensive side of the football.

While a good number of questions could be answered on Thursday during the Argos’ annual Fan Day Scrimmage, it probably won’t be until the regular season when a few big questions – such as the team’s starting quarterback – have a solution.

During the UWF football media day on Monday, offensive lineman Ben Freeman, wide receiver Zac Offord and running back Jamontez Woods all took the stage.

Freeman, an offensive lineman, has been with the Argos since the 2023 season, transferring in from Northwest Missouri State. Woods, a running back, transferred to UWF before the 2023 season as well, coming in from Division I Troy. Woods was second on the team last year with 565 yards rushing with six touchdowns, trailing CJ Wilson, who has since graduated.

Offord, a wide receiver, has been with the Argos since he was a freshman in 2020. Offord was behind both John Jiles and Caden Leggett last season, recording 237 yards receiving on 16 catches. He’s the team’s top returning receiver from the 2023 campaign.

Here are three takeaways from what the offensive leaders had to say at Media Day.
