WEST LAFAYETTE − There could be a new face in Purdue football’s secondary when the Boilermakers play at Oregon State on Saturday.
Reserves Salim Turner-Muhammad and Derrick Rogers Jr. are no longer listed on Purdue’s depth chart.
Boilermakers coach Ryan Walters did not rule out Turner-Muhammad, who has a “soft tissue injury.” Rogers’ demotion was an in-house issue, Walters said.
Listed behind Markevious Brown, formerly Rogers, is now freshman Earl Kulp. Anthony Brown, an Arkansas transfer who played all 12 games in his first year with Purdue last season, is listed as Dillon Thieneman’s backup. Joseph Jefferson, who was previously listed behind Thieneman, is now behind Antonio Stevens at the other safety spot.
“Earl comes from a really good program at St. Thomas Aquinas (Florida) … so having a standard of winning in his blood already, that gives him confidence to go out there and accomplish what he needs to do,” defensive coordinator Kevin Kane said. “A.B. has been around here since we’ve been here and continues to embrace the role that he’s had and get better at what he needs to do. I am anxious to see those guys in practice this week and how they move forward.”

Rogers started four Big Ten games last season as a true freshman and played in all 12 contests. Kulp made his college debut against Indiana State but did not play against Notre Dame last Saturday.
Sophomore tight end George Burhenn is no longer on the depth chart due to a hamstring issue, Walters said. Burhenn did not play against Notre Dame after having one catch in the season opener against Indiana State.
