Following its first bye week of the season, the Oregon football team will look to stay unbeaten as it heads out on the road for the second time this year in its first ever Big Ten conference game on Saturday against UCLA at the Rose Bowl.
The game is set to kick off at 8 p.m.
Here are some highlights from coach Dan Lanning during his weekly press conference Monday night.
Dan Lanning says Oregon football “attacked” bye week well
Facing its first bye week of the season, after just three games, Lanning was happy with how his team approached the week off.
Rather than treat it like a break, Oregon used the off week to get better and make strides toward being a more complete football team.
“Ultimately, we got better,” Lanning said. “You’re looking for opportunities to get better, challenge your team, find areas of improvement and I thought our guys did a good job of doing that.”
Though the Ducks looked sloppy in back-to-back weeks to start the season in wins over Idaho and Boise State, Oregon thoroughly dismantled rival Oregon State in Corvallis a little over a week ago and is looking to carry that momentum through the bye week into a matchup against UCLA on the road.
“Sometimes a bye week can be a lull for teams,” Lanning said. “I thought our guys attacked it with the proper approach of finding ways to continue to improve and get better. We talk about having a player-led team. I think that’s really shown up for our guys over the last several weeks and it’s certainly shown up throughout the season so far.”
