Jalen Haralson staying in state — at Notre Dame. Former Fishers star picks Fighting Irish.

Jalen Haralson is staying in state for college, just not the school Hoosiers fans wanted.

Haralson, who began his prep career at Fishers before transferring to La Lumiere in LaPorte, committed to Notre Dame and Micah Shrewsberry. He picked the Fighting Irish over IU and Michigan State, marking a major recruiting win, as one of the highest-ranked players at his position in his class.

The 6-7 Haralson, a five-star prospect and the No. 14 overall recruit in the country in the 2025 class by 247Sports.

His decision comes on the heels of another in-state Irish pledge with Cathedral’s Brady Koehler committing Monday.

When Shrewsberry took the Notre Dame job, it was assumed he’d use his in-state contacts and knowledge to recruiting and bring more of the state’s top talents to South Bend.

Noie: It had to be an Indiana kid as first ND commitment for 2025 class

Koehler was the first Indiana high school player to be recruited to Notre Dame by Shrewsberry. Of the current Indiana natives on the roster — guards Markus Burton, Logan Imes and Braeden Shrewsberry, the coach’s son, as well as swingmen Tae Davis and J.R. Konieczny — each arrived via different avenues.

Haralson was a dominant player at Fishers from the start of his freshman year. He was offered by Indiana and Maryland before he even played a game in high school, then added many others, including Michigan State, in the summer between his freshman and sophomore seasons. Within a month of taking the Notre Dame coaching position in March of last year, Shrewsberry offered Haralson a scholarship.

Haralson was part of the USA Basketball U17 National Team that took gold in July in Istanbul. Haralson averaged 11.1 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists for the USA team.
