BATON ROUGE – When the 2024 schedule was finalized, the South Alabama matchup for LSU football wasn’t anywhere near the most intriguing game on the slate.
But how things have played out for both Major Applewhite and the Jaguars (2-2), as well as the No. 13 Tigers (3-1), this contest has gotten much more interesting as the teams are set to face off inside Tiger Stadium on Saturday (6:45 p.m., SEC Network).
Led by freshman sensation, and all-time name team selection, Fluff Bothwell and freshman quarterback Gio Lopez, South Alabama has college football’s 13th-best offense, putting up more than 500 yards per game.
LSU has had a rough go recently on defense, losing top NFL prospect and junior linebacker Harold Perkins Jr. to a season-ending knee injury last week during the UCLA game.
