Illinois rankings update

The Illinois football team dropped to No. 25 in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll on Sunday, one day after the Fighting Illini lost to the Penn State Nittany Lions, 21-7, in a Big Ten Conference game in Happy Valley. Illinois dropped four sports in the coaches’ poll after jumping into the rankings last week for the first time this season.

The Illini (4-1) is No. 24 in The Associated Press Top 25, released Sunday, dropping four spots from last week.

Illinois is on a bye this week. The Illini return to the field for an Oct. 12 home game against Purdue at Memorial Stadium in Champaign, Illinois. The game time and broadcast information has yet to be announced.
